'DK, its done bro': BJP's dig at CM Shivakumar after sweeping Karnataka MLA polls
BJP takes a swipe at DK Shivakumar after the NDA wins all four seats in Karnataka Legislative Council elections.

The BJP on Wednesday took a dig at Karnataka chief minister DK Shivakumar after the BJP-Janata Dal (Secular) alliance won all four seats in the state’s Legislative Council elections for Graduates’ and Teachers’ constituencies. The Karnataka BJP used the viral phrase “DK, it’s done, bro!” to target the ruling Congress after the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) secured a clean sweep in the polls, winning two Graduates’ seats and two Teachers’ seats. In a post on X, the BJP wrote, “DK, it’s done, bro! NDA SWEEPS 4/4 Teachers’ and Graduates’ constituencies in the MLC elections!”The phrase echoes actor Salman Khan’s widely discussed post, “Sonam, it’s done, bro”, during youth and student protests involving the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP). The remark later became a subject of online satire, memes and political commentary. The BJP has now adapted the line to mock Congress following the alliance’s electoral success.Meanwhile, Shivakumar said the Congress would respectfully accept the people’s verdict in the Legislative Council elections for four seats, acknowledging that the party fell short of its expectations and would undertake a detailed review of the results.

NDA calls victory a sign of things to come

The elections covered 19 districts, spanning nearly two-thirds of Karnataka, including the home districts of chief minister Siddaramaiah and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge.NDA leaders have presented the result as a sign of support for the alliance among teachers, graduates and educated professionals. They have also described the clean sweep as a preview of the political contest expected in the 2028 Karnataka Assembly elections.JD(S) state youth president Nikhil Kumar called the outcome a “historic 4/4 clean sweep” and accused the Congress government of misusing state machinery and power during the election.“A historic 4/4 clean sweep for the NDA in the Karnataka Legislative Council elections (2 Graduate & 2 Teachers’ constituencies)!” Kumar wrote on X.He further claimed that voters had rejected the Congress government and said the result reflected the political mood on the ground.“Despite the Congress government misusing state machinery and power, the educated fraternity has rejected their misrule. Spanning 19 districts (nearly 2/3rd of Karnataka), including the home districts of the CM & AICC President Sri @kharge Ji, this ballot paper mandate, free of any EVM debate, reflects the true ground reality!”, he wrote.Kumar also linked the result to the next Assembly election, calling the alliance’s performance a preview of what could lie ahead.“This unified fight by the NDA is a clear trailer for what lies ahead in the 2028 Assembly Elections. A huge thank you to the voters, and my heartiest congratulations to the dynamic leaders and hardworking cadres of both @JanataDal_S and @BJP4Karnataka for this towering victory!”

Yediyurappa congratulates winning candidates

Former Karnataka chief minister BS Yediyurappa also congratulated the four NDA candidates who won the seats, naming Shasheel Namoshi, Dr S V Sankanoor, K M Suresh and A P Ranganath. In a post on X, Yediyurappa described the result as a mandate against the Congress government and an endorsement of the NDA’s politics under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.“My heartiest congratulations to Shri Shasheel Namoshi, Shri Dr. SV Sankanoor, Shri KM Suresh, and Shri A.P. Ranganath, the NDA alliance candidates who have achieved an unprecedented victory in the election to the four seats of the Graduates’ and Teachers’ constituencies in the State Legislative Council.
