‘The Paradise’ OTT release: Nani’s film trimmed by 24 minutes, with the viral dance number removed

Nani’s Telugu action drama ‘The Paradise’ has arrived on an OTT platform in a revised version that is about 24 minutes shorter than its theatrical cut. Directed by Srikanth Odela, the film started streaming on October 22 in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam, after receiving a mixed response in cinemas.

What has changed in the OTT version

Nani’s film premiered on Netflix on October 22, 2026. The streaming cut runs for around two hours and 30 minutes, while the theatrical version ran for two hours and 54 minutes. The most talked-about change is the removal of a dance sequence featuring Sonali Kulkarni’s character. In cinemas, this number came in the middle of a fight scene and soon became a topic of discussion online. Many viewers turned it into a meme and questioned why a dance was placed inside an action episode. The new version also reportedly has better visual effects in a few portions, after some shots drew criticism earlier. The end credits have been slowed down too, which should help those who found them too quick to read on the big screen.

Netflix India’s hint on X

Netflix India seemed to hint at the edits in a post on X. It wrote, “This Paradise is under construction & revolution.” The post added to the buzz around the film before its streaming debut and made fans curious about what had been changed.

Why the film was criticised

During its theatrical run, ‘The Paradise’ received mixed to negative reactions. The film drew attention for its scale and action sequences, but viewers found the second half too long and the violence excessive. Some creative choices were also questioned. Many felt that the extended action scenes hurt the story’s momentum and made the film feel longer than necessary. The shorter cut seems to address at least some of these concerns, though it remains to be seen how audiences respond to it.

Nani on honest feedback

Nani had earlier reacted to the mixed response in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India. He said he understood the criticism and valued the honest views of the people close to him. “I’m not from a cinema background. The people I’m surrounded with are extremely honest to me. There’s no filter at all,” he said. The actor added that his friends and family are open about his films even when they do well. He said he has always seen himself as part of the audience, since he has watched films in theatres and knows that viewers’ reactions are not separate from his own experience as a moviegoer.

Cast, crew and box office

‘The Paradise’ brings Nani and Srikanth Odela together again after their earlier film ‘Dasara’. Produced by Sudhakar Cherukuri under the SLV Cinemas banner, the film also stars Kayadu Lohar, Mohan Babu, Sonali Kulkarni, Raghav Juyal and Priyadarshi. It reportedly collected Rs 76 crore worldwide on its opening day, but the early momentum did not last over the following days. The film ended its theatrical run with an estimated worldwide gross of Rs 173.35 crore.
