Paris Jackson recently filed a case against her father, Michael Jackson’s estate executors, for not distributing money between her and her siblings, Bigi and Prince, according to their father’s will. The actress and singer has asked that USD 600 million be paid in due expenses, along with her legal fees. However, according to the latest reports shared online, a judge has ruled that John Branca, the executor of the estate, can keep certain financial information confidential. The news also comes amid the ongoing litigation over his handling of the estate.

The judge says John Branca can withhold certain financial information

Page Six reported that on Wednesday, a Los Angeles judge ruled that Branca is allowed to keep parts of financial information related to the estate confidential. Branca had earlier filed an appeal to seal certain parts of court filings that contained confidential and important information, which was granted to him by Judge Brenda J. Penny on November 4. This confidential information is related to the executor’s attorney fees, legal costs, and estate accounting, as per the news report. There was another ruling made around the same time, which was related to the estate’s “Fourteenth Account Current and Report of Administration of Estate and Petition for Settlement Thereof and for Instructions Re Family Allowance.” According to the outlet, the judge found that there was “substantial probability of prejudice” if the records and such information were to be made public. The judge also found that it would directly affect the estate’s interests in the pending litigation case, as well as any future negotiations and ongoing business matters. The update comes only days after Paris filed an appeal in court demanding that Branca pay USD 600 million from her father’s estate into the family trust that was set up by her father. The trust was created as a way to fund Paris and her siblings, Prince, 29, and Bigi, 24. According to her father’s will, the money was supposed to be rolled out in instalments as they grow older; however, she has alleged in her case that the money has not been handled properly and also accused Branca of taking control over the amount and of when the three were even able to get access to the money from the trust. In the recent filing made only days ago, Paris requested that the estimated amount of USD 600 million, which is still left to be released to the trust, should be done so at the earliest. According to the case filing, she made claims that the trust has remained unfunded for more than 17 years after her father’s death. The ‘Thriller’ singer’s daughter is also seeking compensation for her legal and attorney fees. For more than a year now, she has been involved in a case against her father’s estate and its executors over mismanagement of funds. Some of the other allegations also include claims that Branca often used money for ‘gifts’ and other items, which were not declared.Disclaimer: The information in this report is based on a legal hearing as reported by a third-party source.
