PULWAMA: Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, an RSS affiliate, opened its first office in Kashmir Valley on Sunday in Barsu village at the foothills of the Zabarwan mountain range. The office is located around five kilometres from Lethpora highway, where the Feb 2019 Pulwama attack took place.Sameer Khuchay, 36, in-charge of BMS Kashmir division, said the organisation earlier operated from a small, rented space at Shiv Pora in Srinagar. “Now, it is our first divisional office, that too in Pulwama. You can say it is the first office of the RSS ideology in Kashmir,” he said.
Khuchay added that most of the labour organisations affiliated with BMS were from south Kashmir and that’s why the office was shifted to the current location.BMS has been actively working in Kashmir since 2020 after the abrogation of Article 370 and currently has 20 registered affiliated labour unions in the region, Khuchay said.Initially, there were a lot of misconceptions about RSS, he said. However, the BMS functionary claimed that over the years, he had succeeded in convincing the people that RSS was not anti-Muslim, but pro-labour and pro-people.“Our affiliate labour organisations and their members know it well that BMS follows RSS ideology, but they also know that we are not puppets of BJP. We deliver everything genuine that our labour members ask and they have trust in us,” he added.
